Remain Compliant with The Guild

Remain Compliant

Would you be confident if HMRC conducted a surprise visit?

Agents need to be on top of ever-changing legislation in this industry – there is no grey area when it comes to legislation: you are either compliant, or you're not. The Guild is committed to helping our Members ensure that they stay compliant and that they have access to the training they need. Being part of The Guild of Property Professionals equips you to build trust with your clients, as well as giving you a point of difference against your competitors.

Here are a few of the ways The Guild helps you to remain compliant:

Cornflakes & Compliance

Every Wednesday, all Guild Members receive a video update from our Group Compliance Officer, Paul Offley. From loft insulation to WhatsApp and data protection for your business, Paul's videos offer answers to the queries he receives from across the network.

Compliance Toolbox

Paul also looks after our Compliance Toolbox which sits within our Members' Hub. It is a library of documents and information on subjects from lettings legislation to anti-money laundering.

Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance

All Members are eligible to join The Guild’s Group Policy pending satisfactory ‘statement of fact’ responses and acceptance by our insurers.

The Guild's Associate Scheme

The Guild's Associate Scheme is a training course that is free to all Guild Members, ensuring every Member and their teams have access to the fundamental knowledge and understanding required to be an estate agent.

On completion, Members can access a certificate in recognition of their achievement, as well as an ID card which can be worn on appointments.

Everything above is included in all of our Guild Plans. To learn more about our plans, click here

INTRODUCING PAUL OFFLEY, THE GUILD'S COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Paul started his career in Estate Agency just over 40 years ago and during those early years gained experience in sales, lettings, new homes, livestock markets, farm sales, property auctions, chattel auctions and even worked and helped develop one of the very first estate agency software systems in the early 80s. In 1994 Paul moved into support roles and since then has held a number of senior leadership roles in Training and Development, Corporate Business, Complaint resolution, Customer Service, Operations, Technology, Premises, Projects, Change Management and, of course, Risk. Paul spent 24 years working with the former corporate, Halifax Estate Agents and as part of his Head of Risk role was responsible for a central risk team supporting the entire estate agency network covering sales, lettings, mortgages and bank agencies. During this time Paul also sat on The Property Ombudsman board. Paul now heads up the compliance function supporting businesses in The Guild and Fine and Country and helping business owners manage risk. Paul is part of The Property Ombudsman industry forum and contributes to MHCLG working groups as requested. Paul’s passion is Estate Agency and in particular helping firms and the industry raise and maintain standards.
